Hypnosis with Meg

What is Hypnosis

What is Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation during which suggestions are made to create beneficial changes in ideas or behavior.

There is a feeling of well-being, an ability to recall past events and the acceptance of new ideas that are not in conflict with personal values.

The hypnotic state is like meditation, where the body is relaxed but the mind has heightened awareness. The ability to vocalize is limited, and the limbs feel leaden or light, tingly or somewhat numb. The perception of time is also distorted where an hour might seem like just a few minutes. The subconscious mind controls the involuntary functions of the body, including habits and things that we do ‘automatically’ - it is fueled by our emotions and imagination and directs the energy from within. The subconscious mind also contains memories of every single thing that has occurred to us.

In hypnosis the mind is very receptive to new ideas and open to suggestions which encourage more sensible, balanced or helpful attitudes to reality.

In the clinical setting, symptoms associated with stress or anxiety can be helped; in such cases it is not a substitute for medical treatment, but a very useful supplement to it. Mind and body affect each other and the person as a whole in benefited by this holistic approach.

The number of sessions required usually varies from person to person, however most people feel some benefit from hypnotherapy immediately.

Hypnosis cannot, and should not, stand alone as the sole medical or psychological intervention for any disorder. Hypnosis should not be used instead of appropriate medical, dental, or psychological treatment, and any individual with a medical or psychological problem should first consult a qualified health care provider for diagnosis and professional advice. Hypnosis should only be practiced by those who have been appropriately trained, who practice appropriately, and within the scope of their training.

Benefits of Hypnosis

It’s a holistic approach to achieving a variety of goals.

Hypnosis will not interfere with medications or other medical therapies.
Since no drugs or expensive equipment are needed, costs can be competitive, even when paying an experienced, professional hypnotherapist.

Many of  my clients are under the care of a physician or other health professional and can receive parallel hypnosis sessions.

What Hypnosis is NOT

FACT:- The client has control of their mind at all times, the hypnotist just helps to guide you during the session. Using hypnosis helps  clients to remember or deal with certain issues that have happened in their past and allows them to receive suggestions that are based on their personal goals and objectives. During a hypnosis session, the client determines the level of participation and always has complete control of their mind.

FACT: -Every person naturally enters a state of hypnosis at least twice everyday: just before falling asleep at night, and upon awaking every morning, before getting out of bed. Most people easily enter 'Environmental Hypnosis' while at the movies, watching TV, driving on the highway, or while reading a good book.

FACT:- Hypnosis is always

a self-controlled and self-directed process. Th hypnotist is only present to gently guide your mind into a hypnotic state, where you will receive encouraging suggestions that can help you overcome many problems and ultimately achieve your goals. In order for hypnosis to occur, there has to be complete cooperation between the client and their hypnotist.

You are never forced to talk about anything during hypnosis.

FACT:- Hypnosis is an accepted practice among many religions. The Roman Catholic Church was one of the first to accept hypnosis in 1957, by recognizing the lifelong healing benefits that it can bring to an individual. Other major religious groups have also accepted hypnosis and allow their members to use this form of practice.

  Hypnosis is often viewed as

 "Magical" or "Supernatural"

Fact:- Hypnosis is a natural state that has been studied scientifically.

Hypnotists are NOT Psychics or Palm Readers with "special powers". Hypnotherapy is based on many years of clinical research by famous Psychologists such as Dr. Sigmund Freud and Dr. Carl Jung, and more recently, by Dr. Milton Erikson and Dr. John Kappas.

   Hypnosis is a "Miracle Cure".

Fact: While Hypnosis is a relatively quick method of making permanent improvements, there is no such thing as a one-time "Miracle Cure!"

Every individual makes progress at his or her own pace. Be weary of those who make such wild claims.
